The Samira Bawumia Literature Prize (SBLP), in collaboration with the Writers Project of
Ghana and the Goethe-Institut, hosted a vibrant book reading on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at
the Goethe-Institut in Accra. The event brought together an enthusiastic literary community of
writers, readers, and storytelling enthusiasts for an inspiring evening.
The session featured captivating readings from the 2022 prize-winning stories, underscoring the
enduring power of literature to educate, connect, and transform. Moderated by Dr. Martin
Egblewogbe an SBLP judge and founder of the Writers Project of Ghana, the event spotlighted
emerging voices including Deladem Kwaku Adom, Phinehas Nana Osei, Nunya Apetsi, and
Emmanuela Amparebea Sekoh.
Attendees engaged in lively discussions with the featured writers, delving into the characters,
themes, and creative journeys behind the stories. This thoughtful exchange reaffirmed the Prize’s
commitment to nurturing emerging talent and cultivating a thriving reading culture in Ghana and
beyond.
